Miami Beach, Florida

Kicking off the list of the best summer beach house rentals on the East Coast is this beautiful home in Miami.

Located in the heart of Miami Beach, this modern one-bedroom condo is ideal for two or three guests who want to be close to the shore. The flat is just steps from the sand, offering visitors easy access to the running and biking path that boasts incredible views. Previous guests note that while the rental is in a prime location, it still feels tucked back enough to escape from the craziness of Miami Beach. Other perks include free parking, an onsite pool and tiki bar, and a decently sized gym.

The hosts also point out that because the water in Miami Beach is so clear, you can occasionally see manatees, sting rays, and even dolphins swimming from the comfort of your bedroom. Definitely cool summer Airbnb material! If you visit Miami, I highly recommend doing a drive down to check out The Keys! My comprehensive travel guide to The Florida Keys can be found here.

Water Mill, New York

If you live in New York City, you know that summer wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Hamptons. Offering up the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, this stunning house makes for the ideal space to spend a holiday weekend or some much-deserved time out of office.

Upon arrival, a long and gated driveway will lead you to the two-story traditional home that sits on an acre of farm fields. With five bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms, the house can comfortably fit ten guests—ideal for a trip with a group of friends. More highlights include a heated pool, rooftop deck, and a fire pit. But the best part? It’s just a short walk to the beach.

Ocean View, Delaware

If you’ve ever wanted to stay in a tiny house, now is your chance! This adorable little cottage in Ocean View, Delaware was built around an organic garden, just five miles from Bethany Beach. After the owners of the property watched Tiny Houses on Netflix, they felt inspired to convert their potting shed into a small yet comfy cottage to rent on Airbnb.

This cool beach house rental is tiny, but functional. The 165 sq ft living space has all you need—a lofted bed, kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, TV, sofa, and a bathroom with a large tiled shower. The serene setting is ideal for those hoping for a relaxing and inspiring escape. Step outside the front door and walk through the lush garden to find yourself at the property’s Organic Market, which is stocked with fresh ingredients for you to cook with. Guests can also order wine, cocktails, or beer at the on-site restaurant, and a farm-to-table brunch and dinner is served every day.

Tiverton, Rhode Island

Book this newly renovated 1940s dome house and you’re sure to have a memorable getaway. The unique home, known as a Quonset hut, was used in the war to store ammunition. With only a few thousand of these huts left in the United States, the owners and Airbnb hosts decided to restore the hidden gem, then rent it out to share with others.

Now at 2600 sq ft, the cozy and stylish home is fitting for larger groups (up to 10 guests) looking for a seaside escape. Kayaks and bikes are provided, and there’s a hot tub, grilling area, and fire pit. The hosts have even gone out of their way to provide a list of their favorite attractions in Tiverton for all guests (you just need to ask for it). Traveling with kids? They’ll love the game room, ping pong table, and bunk beds.

Keene, New Hampshire

Those looking for a vacation home that’s suitable for a large group will love this colonial style rental house in Keene, New Hampshire. With 6,500 sq ft and 7 acres of lush property (complete with stunning mountain views), this spacious find is great for family reunions, bachelorette parties, or multi-family trips. While not a traditional beach house, the many lakes nearby made me add it to this list.

Originally built in 1880, the newly redesigned home has hardwood floors, big windows, and upscale appliances throughout. There are even four ovens and a fully equipped kitchen, which is the perfect selling point for the cook or baker in your group. Although it has been updated, the New England home still retains its charm and personality.

While on the estate, go swimming in the pool, enjoy a meal on one of the porches, or watch a movie on one of the flat screen TVs. If you’re hoping to stay active during your vacation, take a short drive to ski, hike, or bike around the area.

Charleston, South Carolina

If you’ve traveled to Charleston, you likely know that King Street is an iconic and fun spot to wander through. With tons of shops, restaurants, and a lively nightlife scene, staying near the historic street is an absolute treat for travelers. Now you can experience the best that Charleston has to offer by renting this charming carriage house, which is located just one block from King.

The light blue exterior will draw you in while little details throughout the house, like a spiral staircase and a loft-style master bedroom, will make you feel at home. While the bright space is full of character, it’s also a practical spot to hunker down if you plan to stay in Charleston for a longer vacation: Off-street parking and an in-unit washer and dryer are available for guests.

Savannah, Georgia

A stay in a historic Victorian home is an absolute must when visiting Savannah. This gorgeous, four-bedroom house will give you a taste of authentic southern hospitality. The restored 1920s home features high ceilings, detailed moldings, bay windows, and chic furniture and decor. Plus, as a guest you’ll have access to the property’s two porches, which are complete with their own outdoor furniture. Enjoy your morning cup of coffee or end your day with a craft cocktail, all while taking in the views of Savannah from the front porch.

The home is also walking distance to Savannah’s Starland District, which offers travelers access to a variety of trendy shops and eateries. Check out my first timer’s itinerary for Savannah that covers the best things to do and nearby beaches.

Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Cape Cod is perhaps one of the most idyllic beach destinations to visit during the summer. Plan the ultimate trip to the cape by reserving the Wings Neck Lighthouse, which was previously a US Coast Guard lighthouse. During your stay, climb the mahogany spiral staircase and view the Atlantic Ocean from the lantern room, walk just steps to the private beach to take in the beauty of New England, or explore the rocky slopes around the property. If you’re in need of some R+R, take a dip in the sea, then rinse off in the outdoor shower before cozying up with a book by the fireplace.

Sleeping accommodations are available for up to 8 guests and expansive kitchen amenities (including a lobster pot!) make entertaining at the house easy. The highlight, however, is certainly the 360 degree view of the ocean. And bonus: The property faces West, showcasing a nightly view of the sunset. As far as the best summer Airbnbs go, it doesn’t get much dreamier!

If you visit Cape Cod in the summer, your trip isn’t complete without a stop on the nearby island of Nantucket. Check out my guide to this charming island here.

Boothbay Harbor, Maine

With nearly 150 five-star reviews, this adorable guest house seems like a no-brainer to book if you’re looking for a place to stay in Maine. The two-bedroom house shows off minimalistic design while still hinting at impeccable detail like brick flooring, arched ceilings, antique furniture, and a retro refrigerator.

Here’s what the host, Suzie, has to say about the property: “The balcony is a favorite spot for morning coffee, listening to the bird song while enjoying the garden view. The smell of lavender gives a great sense of peace and tranquility. Then it’s time to start your day with a refreshing outdoor shower (indoor one as well). Catch a falling star at night while sipping on wine by the campfire, and gazing at the night sky. Finally, enjoy some diffused essential oils to help you drift away and leave your worries behind…and just simply be.”

A visit to Maine isn’t complete without a stop in Portland. Check out my Portland travel guide, and lobster roll breakdown, here.

Annapolis, Maryland

Looking for a unique place to stay? This modern houseboat in Annapolis is a fun and quirky summer Airbnb on the East Coast. Situated on a stationary lift, the boat offers picturesque views of the Chesapeake Bay. Reviewers rave about the rooftop deck and say that it’s the perfect place to spend time from sunrise to sunset. Other guests mention that the gentle motions and sounds of the water were soothing to fall asleep to. If you’re looking for something to do in the area, walk just a couple blocks to Leeward Market to grab breakfast, then explore the museums, gardens, and shops by biking throughout the town.

I hope you enjoyed this round up of the best summer Airbnbs and home rentals on the East Coast!
