The gorgeous Hawaiian island of Maui sits on most people’s travel bucket list. It’s not surprising that Hawaii’s second largest island is such an in-demand destination. Maui is filled with pristine beaches, delicious fresh food, heart-stopping drives and otherworldly landscapes. Maui offers something for everyone. When planning that dream trip to Maui one of the biggest questions is where to stay. The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, a five star luxury resort that’s the perfect home base for any type of Maui vacation, is your answer.

Kapalua, where The Ritz-Carlton is located, is a 22,000-acre resort area on Maui’s northwest coast situated in a nature preserve. The resort itself is expansive as well and is nestled onto 54 acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Kapalua has a tranquil neighborhood feel with golf courses, restaurants and beaches on its grounds. In fact there are several beaches in Kapalua and Kapalua Bay was even named “Best Beach in America” by the Travel Channel, among other accolades. In addition to being surround by natural beauty, Kapalua is easily accessible from the airport and is close to many of businesses, shopping and restaurants. It’s a great area to base your Maui vacation in.

As mentioned, The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua is a big resort. It offers something for every traveler and for every vacation vibe. It’s great for families with children, couples looking for a romantic getaway or groups of friends. The resort offers 466 rooms and while there are a lot of guest rooms it never feels crowded. You also don’t need to leave the resort property for anything. The Ritz-Carlton has anything you would need- a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, a large pool area, a fitness center and a locally inspired spa.

When in Hawaii you’ll want to spend most of your time outside and The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua is perfect for that! The resort grounds are huge and beautifully manicured to reflect a tranquil, tropical vibe. The Ritz-Carlton has a massive pool area that is spread out on tiers. There is separate level open only to adults, which I really appreciated. There’s also a smaller kiddie pool for those with young children.

Out back of the hotel, just beyond the pool, is a large lawn with hammocks, games and walking paths. A short walk down a gentle hill brings you to The Ritz-Carlton’s beach. All beaches in Hawaii are public, but since the Kapalua area is very self-contained you aren’t likely to find many non-hotel guests. Aside from the pool and the beach The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua offers a wide range of activities for guests to enjoy including tennis, basketball, snorkeling, hiking and more. The hotel’s large staff of concierge and event planners can even help you explore the rest of the island, rent a car or organize a photo session.

When you’re ready to go inside the guest rooms at The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua are beautifully appointed and spacious. The rooms are decorated in a tropical and refined style with yellow and green decor and locally inspired art. Many of the rooms have large patios, which is perfect to watch the sunset.

There are six restaurants at The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua and each features locally sourced fresh ingredients. The resort offers all types of dining experiences including a coffee shop, a chic Hawaiian focused eatery and even a casual burger joint on the beach that’s perfect for a sandy afternoon snack. There’s no reason to ever leave the resort grounds, but if you wanted to, the greater Kapalua area offers even more dining options.

If you’re planning a trip to beautiful Maui, I highly recommend a stay at The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua. The resort is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy all that Maui has to offer.
