I recently had the opportunity to spend some time on Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. To me, there’s no better place to enjoy summer than New England. These two islands off the coast of Cape Cod in Massachusetts are my ideal summer getaway.

Many people who have never visited the islands wonder what the differences are. They’re pretty similar in that they’re both only accessible by boat or plane and are off the coast of Massachusetts. They’re both small but Martha’s Vineyard is the larger of the two islands, with six towns versus only one on Nantucket. The Vineyard is also more varied, laid back and feels a bit more commercial- with arcades and quirky shops. I find Nantucket to be more “cute” and it oozes a refined type of New England charm, versus The Vineyard’s laid back charm. I’ve spent more time on Nantucket and wrote a travel guide to the island last year that you can find here. Have you been to either island and do you have a favorite? I’d love to hear!

Below are some of my favorite photos from my recent travels to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.
